Frankincense & Myrrh: Ancient Resins for Healthy Skin

This morning in church, as the thurifer swung and filled the air with sacred scent, I was reminded why these resins were once worth more than gold — and why they belong in your bathroom today.

Frankincense and myrrh have been prized for thousands of years — burned, blended, and rubbed into skin long before "skincare" was ever a word. When we set out to build a bar around them, we wanted it to carry that same sense of ritual: something you reach for at the end of a long day, not just something that gets you clean.

The Scent Story

Frankincense brings a rich, warm, resinous top note — slightly spicy, unmistakably ancient. Myrrh sits underneath it, earthy and grounding, the kind of scent that seems to slow you down rather than wake you up. Together they don't compete; they settle into each other, which is exactly the kind of quiet, therapeutic wash we were after.

Why These Two

Frankincense oil is well known for supporting skin elasticity and helping to soften the look of fine lines — a genuine anti-ageing ally, not just a nice smell. Myrrh works alongside it as a soother, calming irritation and easing redness, which makes this bar a good fit for dry or more sensitive skin.

As we always say: nothing in our soap is there by accident. Every ingredient earns its place, and this bar is no exception.

What's in the Bar

• Olive oil — soothing, and the backbone of a gentle wash
• Coconut oil — for a rich, creamy lather
• Wheatgerm oil — naturally high in Vitamin E
• Golden beeswax — our natural hardener, giving the bar a long life (up to two months of daily use)
• Distilled mountain spring water
• Rosemary oleoresin — a natural antioxidant that helps protect the oils
• Pure frankincense essential oil
• Pure myrrh essential oil

All saponified by hand, in the workshop, the same way every Castello de Haye bar is made.
