The Magic of Rose Geranium

If you have ever brushed past a Pelargonium plant in a glasshouse or garden, you’ll know the sudden delight of releasing a beautiful scent from their leaves. Rose Geranium is one of our absolute favourite essential oils to work with in the workshop, loved for its complex, green, rose-like aroma that instantly lifts the spirit.

Beyond its beautiful aromatherapy profile, it carries incredible naturally balancing properties for the skin, making it exceptionally gentle for sensitive or dry skin types. 

Traditional domestic craft also relied heavily on this fragrant plant. A wonderful workshop tip is to dry the green leaves until they are crisp, then tuck them into small natural Kraft paper sachets to keep moths away from your linen drawers. If you grow rose geranium at home, September is the perfect time to take fresh cuttings to overwinter in a greenhouse, ensuring a fresh flush of aromatic green leaves for the coming spring.
