The Story Behind No.3 Relax

Essential oils are wonderful on their own — but sometimes, together, they become something more. No.3 Relax began with curiosity rather than a formula: three ingredients — ylang ylang, lavender, and sweet orange — and a question about what they might do alongside each other. The scent and the effect weren't designed separately. They revealed themselves together.

Three ingredients, one intention

Ylang ylang opens the blend - warm, floral, a little rich. It's traditionally used to ease tension and settle a racing mind, and it happens to smell wonderful doing it.

Lavender sits at the centre. It's the most familiar ingredient here, and probably the hardest-working - long used to calm the body and quiet the mind, and it gives the blend its steady, herbal core.

Sweet orange lifts it. Bright, not sharp, it keeps the blend from tipping into heaviness, and it's known for its own gently uplifting, mood-easing qualities.

All of the three work alone, but it's the combination — the way the warmth, the calm, and the lift sit together — that we were really after. The scent and what it does for you aren't two separate things here; they're the same thing, considered from two angles.

Why it matters to us

We're genuinely humbled by how people have used No.3. A little while ago, a lady phoned us to order more — she'd used it herself during labour and found it a real help in staying calm through something enormously difficult, and she wanted a bottle for her sister, who was expecting too. We didn't make this blend with that in mind, and we'd never claim it as more than what it is — a considered scent, made by hand. But hearing that it sat with her through a moment like that is exactly why we do this slowly, one batch at a time, and why we don't take a single ingredient in it for granted.
